The simplest way is to match your pant waist size. A man who wears 36 pants takes a size 36 belt.
To measure an existing belt, lay it flat and measure from where the leather meets the buckle to the hole you use most. Do not include the buckle. To measure your body, wrap a soft tape around your waist where the belt sits, snug but not tight. For jeans worn lower on the hips, consider sizing up.
